CRM Service Calendar colour coding

Chris Graham's picture

We've recently started using the Service Calendar in CRM to record room bookings for our conference facilities and training rooms.

In order to make it as easy to use as possible we wanted to have only 3 status codes.  Under Open we kept Tentative and removed Requested and under Scheduled we change Pending to Need More Information and Reserved to Booking Complete.

Now that CRM can handle mailmerge properly - ie using data from multiple related entities i took the opportunity to improve the membership administration process.  in addtion. the create entity on workflow allowed me to generate the new year's transactions.
Meeting with Denise and Frances to review and get a snag list.

Stephen Gray's picture

Test upgrade of an exisiting CRM3.0 outlook client to CRM4.0 client connecting to the new CRM4 server.

I tested this on a fairly standard staff PC.

Install the client ~ 10mins
I just used the CRM CD for this test and had admin rights on the desktop. Point to crm4
Install went ok - probably took around 10 mins

Run config Wizard ~ 15mins
A configuration wizard is installed on the desktop.  Ran it and completed without error.

Micosoft Dynamics CRM Server - Upgrade 3.0 to 4.0

Easy, just stick in the CD and off you go....unfortunately not.

Here's a round up of the process so far.

Get a new server prepared (CRM4)
We're using a virtual server on the new esx server.  We've installed windows 2003 server, IIS, SQL2005, .Net frameworks and all of the update rollups etc. Takes ages so be prepared.

Take a snapshot
VMware's esx server means we can take a snapshot of the server at any point.  Really, really useful- means we can roll back very quickly to a clean install with all the prerequisites.
