To Build & Rebuild....

So far 2009 has been a time to build & rebuild, two new staff members, a current staff member with a bit of nasty malware known as AV2009 and a Vista laptop that would try the patience of job !!

You can read further information on AV2009 (http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus-2009.htm) but basically once its on your system its difficult if not impossible to fully clean and whereas it doesnt do much damage it'll certainly make your life hell when trying to browse any websites. The only true way to fully remove the malware is a rebuild and a note to self to check the AV blocking policy on the Firewall is turned on at all times!!!

Now for my little friend, the VISTA laptop, and with most things VISTA there was a driver problem or in this case, several driver/software problems, namely with our BCM & Door System software. Took the decision to downgrade to XP which is never easy where SATA HDD's are concerned, after numerous BSOD's I remembered the BIOS quick fix for reinstallation (basically turn off AHCI mode and turn on SATA mode in the SATA operations of the BIOS) a neat wee trick but it'll save you alot of time and effort.
